My Legacy

 The challenge was to make our programs interesting enough, thus attracting members to come to our monthly meetings. Another very important challenge was to maintain our membership. I want to thank all my CSI colleagues, many listed in the events below, for taking the time and making my leadership so memorable, successful and painless. Many people stand out…A special “thank you” to Arnie Kravitz, Linton Stables, Tom Lanzelotti, Bill DuBois, Susan Kaplan, Bob Crane, Cliff Marvin, David Stutzman, Ruma Som, Bill Jacquette, Bert Korteling, Angela Centanni, Stefanie Romanowski, Joy Davis, Michael Bean, Scott Tobias, Mary Hosley, Anthony Drummond, Ken Raikowski and Luis Rosario Lluveras. The highlights from this last year include:

  • August 2012 - Metro New York Chapter Summer Board Retreat at Perkins Eastman Architects. Program organized by Bill DuBois.
  • September 2012 - Golf Outing at the South Shore Country Club and sponsored by the Metro NY and Long Island CSI Chapters. Also in September, Bill DuBois and Tom Lanzelotti, both of Gensler, presented "Building Information Modeling and Integrated Project Delivery".
  • October 2012 - "Connect NYC: People, Products & Information” Annual Trade Show and Educational Day. Seth Pinsky, President of the NYC Economic Development Council was our keynote speaker. Speakers included Kathryn Mallon, Deputy Director, NYC Department of Environmental Protection, Bill Walsh, Executive Director, Healthy Building Network & the Pharos Project, “Specifications Roundtable” a discussion, moderated by Scott Tobias, CSI, CDT, AHC/CDC, LEED AP, Joy Davis, CSI, CCPR, Director of Communications, CSI, Rowan Georges, AIA, Associate, Specifications Leader of the New York Office, SOM Architects. Arnie Kravitz, Co-Chair.
  • November 2012 - “Specifications 101” with Michael Bean, CSI, AIA, Bill DuBois, CSI, CCS, LEED AP, and Linton Stables, CSI, CCS. LEED AP. The program covered the basics for people who do not write specifications for a living.
  • December 2012 - Holiday Party Annual Metro NY Chapter Social Event.
  • January 2013 - The Architect & Vendor Relationship, A panel discussion with a product representative, design professional, contractor, and an owner representative reviewing each participant’s role in the successful selection of and follow-through for getting the correct products for a specific project.
  • February 2013 – Communication, Collaboration, Social Media. The technical explosion is influencing every industry including the construction industry.
  • March 2013 – The Golden Rep – Special Workshop with Joy Davis, CSI, CCPR, Director of Communications, CSI.
  • Part 1- Wanted: Product Representative who can become trusted advisors to the project team.
  • Part 2 - Relationship Advise for Reps and Architects - Understanding how a project unfolds from the point of view of the documents.
  • March 2013 – “Specifications Round Table” at CSI Long Island Chapter
  • Moderator: Arnie Kravitz. Panelists: Doug Casper, CSI, AIA, Chief Specification Writer, NY/NJ Port Authority, Cliff Marvin, CSI, Conspectus, Inc., Siraj Sayed, Director Projects & Engineering, Big Apple Visual Group, Mark Klinger, President, Global General Contractors.
  • April 2013 – Inspiration, Design & CSI –
  • New York Carousel 3D Puzzle, Presenter: Bob Crane, CSI, CDT
  • April 2013 - Specifications Round Table at Professional Women in Construction – A panel discussion moderated by Arnie Kravitz that will be a candid debate on the value of specifications. Panelists: David Stutzman, President, Conspectus, Inc., Scott J. Tobias, CSI, CDT, AHC/CDC, LEED AP, Director of Architectural Development ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions, Stefanie Romanowski, CSI, CDT, MAI, Senior Associate, Specifications Writer at Gruzen Samton Architects, Irena Skoda, AIA.
  • May 2013 – Networking, Live!: A social opportunity to meet and mix with a variety of people in our industry and the Stevens Institute of Technology’s Solar Decathlon presentation.
