  • Profile: Cassie Walker, CSI, AIA, CDT

This month we continue our "Spotlight on CSI Membership" and introduce to you Cassie Walker, Associate at Curtis + Ginsberg.

Cassie moved to NYC 7 years ago after completing her Master of Architecture at Clemson University in South Carolina. She has been with Curtis + Ginsberg Architects for almost 7 years and is an Associate there now. The firm specializes in affordable housing and small institutional projects. She is a licensed architect in New York, a member of the American Institute of Architects and, of course, Construction Specification Institute. She is also an Advisory Board member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH) 2G Board and NYSAFAH 2G Events Committee Co-Chair. Outside of work, she has quite a green thumb, bakes a great brownie, pretends to be a photographer, dabbles in home brewing beer and is a regular at a whiskey tasting series in Brooklyn.

Cassie, How were you introduced to CSI and what lead you to join our organization?
I was first introduced to CSI by Angela Centanni at Tandus Centiva. I really enjoyed the first meeting I attended and the people I met there and decided to continue going. I joined CSI to continue the relationships I had made and to support a group I feel is beneficial in the design and construction industry. Read more of Cassie's interview>>

This month we feature Tom Lanzelotti.

Tom is a licensed architect in New York and Connecticut with over 25 years of experience in the architecture profession. He has been at Gensler for more than 17 years. As a Technical Principal at Gensler, Tom applies his technical expertise and experience working with design teams, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure that design concepts are properly translated into built environments.

Tom also leads Gensler's firm-wide BIM Oversight Team focused on developing BIM best practices to be shared within the firm. He is the Gensler Northeast Region Technical Leader working as a key member of the Gensler firm-wide Design+ Delivery Team to ensure that quality assurance and risk management best practices are being properly implemented across Gensler's region offices. Tom is also the Gensler Northeast Region Talent Development Team Leader, following his passion for mentoring of young professionals through the development of a comprehensive multi-disciplined learning program that affords Gensler staff the opportunity to continue their professional growth in-house.

Tom has been a Metropolitan New York Chapter member since 2008. This past year Tom was elected a Chapter Director and is the Chapter’s Membership Chair. In these roles Tom has focused his efforts on the diversity of our membership regarding design disciplines and has initiated a push for the greater development of members and to take advantage of their "membership experience” in our Chapter.
